RAZORCAKE fanzine-review

Speedy and tightly wound hardcore from the Berlin outfit. I get the sense they schooled themselves on the 1988-1995 era of straight edge, as there are some similarities here. But they are definitely grounded in the modern times, as the energy is genuine. There’s also a slight hard rock angle to their sound as well, much like the Victims (Sweden). The songs have a nice way of being able to have a catchy rhythm and still have the speedy thing happening. The title track really stands apart from the rest on here with a middle part that slows down; the guitar comes in providing some mood and the vocals talk more than shout. Then you have some ragers like “Nothing’s Alright,” “Living Under Lies,” and “Everything Is Wrong.” All of them that have this urgency through time changes and the ability to put a little more on the table than shouting and racing through the song. Even the song “Old” does a great job of capturing that shitty feeling of trying to find your way and place in something that starts to feel alien to you from all the changes over the years. Believe me, I know, and can relate. –Matt Average

PHOBIACT RECORDS MAILORDER
second LP by Berlins´ NOTHING! 12 inches packed with a perfect mix of Cro-Mags meets Poison Idea meets D.R.I., which will make your head spin! By the way... in this band we have ex-members of Bombenalarm, Mönster, Highscore, Situations...

CONTRASZT! RECORDS MAILORDER
Alter !!! Was geht hier ab?!

NOTHING to HC/P prosto z Berlina. W skład wchodzą raczej dinozaury niemieckiej sceny, którzy udzielali się m.in. w: HIGHSCORE, PEACE OF MIND, MONSTER, COSTAS CAKE HOUSE... Na wokalu Jobst/HIGHSCORE, co podnosi rangę tego zespołu. Muzycznie mamy do czynienia według wydawcy z lekką nutą POISON IDEA, trochę NYHC z końca lat 80-tych. Moim zdaniem to jest fajne trochę punkowe, trochę hardcore'owe, trochę rock'n'rollowe. Słychać faktycznie POISON IDEA, ale wymieszane z wieloma różnymi składnikami. I właśnie te składniki to siła tej płyty. Jest niby melodyjnie, ale potrafi być zadziornie. Mam trochę problem z tą płytą, bo ciężko ją tak raz dwa sklasyfikować i zamknąć w jakiejś szufladzie. Ale to jest siłą tego albumu. To i doświadczenie, które wypływa z każdego kawałka i tekstu do niego napisanego. Interesujące i wciągające!

MASS MOVEMENT MAGAZINE review

Second album from Berlin powerhouse Nothing. This is one cool release as it combines the best of many of my favourite musical worlds. A d-beat juggernaut collides head-on with some old school teutonic thrash with the resulting fireball taking out some fine NWOBHM guitar worship and the best of 80’s crossover hardcore at the same time – ‘nothing’ is sacred on here! Yet the pieces fit perfectly like a puzzle, somehow managing to combine these traditional styles and sound contemporary without pandering to modern trends – no pseudo-black metal blast beat passages or over-the-top-look-at-me tech parts here thank you very much. These guys are no newcomers to the scene having played in many a DIY punk hardcore band over the years and their experience shows – there is a real fluidity and maturity in the songwriting and execution.
The tone is set right from the start with opener “Fallen From Grace” – a driving thrashy beat, guitars shredding, a fantastic rumbling bassline and vocals that combine the power of Poison Idea with the swagger of Turbonegro. The intensity is maintained throughout the course of the seven songs on this album, at times a catchy chorus is thrown in, and every now and then the reins are let off and the twin guitarists treat you with some fine harmonics, screeching solos and pickslides galore. My personal highlight is majestic title track, a true punk-metal bastard if ever there was one. I defy you to listen to this without at least once throwing down some your meanest air guitar licks and raising a fist to the sky! The vinyl is limited to 500 copies and comes with download code, so don’t snooze on this one thrashers! Tom Chapman
